“San Diego has been our home for 56 years. It will always be part of our identity and, my family and I have nothing but gratitude and appreciation for the support and passion our fans have shared with us over the years” – Dean Spanos, Chairman of Chargers
After about a two decade stalemate involving the development of a new stadium in the city of San Diego…the San Diego Chargers are now moving to Los Angeles. The Chargers exercised their option to relocate to Los Angeles, joining the Rams who returned home from Saint Louis last year. In doing so, the Chargers will conduct business in the LA area and play the next two seasons at the StubHub Center in Carson, CA; home to the LA Galaxy. The move will constitute a name change to the Los Angeles Chargers and features a new logo (seen below). The Chargers will move in with the Rams into the new stadium opening in 2019.
“Today we turn the page and begin an exciting new era as the Los Angeles Chargers” – Spanos
